SC Department of Natural Resources brought the Heritage Trailer to FLCS

Each month Felton Lab Charter School hosts a day of learning which is hands-on and interrelated. February's day of discovery and engagement featured presenters highlighting plant and animal science, space exploration and much more. Grades Kindergarten - 2nd were exposed to a lesson on parts of the tree along with animals which make their home in the forest by the South Carolina Forestry Commission. Next, Grades 3rd - 5th visited the Stanback Museum and Planetarium for a program on functions of the Sun. Further, STEMU facilitator, Dr. Michele Heyward, led a writing workshop blending ELA and STEM for Felton's 3rd - 5th Graders. The SC Department of Natural Resources brought out the Heritage Trailer. This amazing hands-on trailer features the hides of animals relative to South Carolina. Middle School conducted research on energy sources through a curriculum created by Savannah River Plant outreach division.
